I created an arthurian calendar for the 2012. It is in two version (one is clear and the other one has an "ancient" effect). In the last page of the calendar there are also all the titles of the pics/paintings I used.
The calendar if composed by: an arthurian poem, an arthurian image, the days of the month.

Rewriting this post because I've read more books!

Who is Mordred's mother? This is a list of ancient books I read and the parentage of Mordred.

HISTORIA BRITONUM: No Mordred.
ANNALE CAMBRIAE: There is Mordred/Medraut but there is nothing about his parents.
HISTORIA REGUM BRITANNIAE: Mordred is the son of Anna and Lot. Anna is Arthur's sister.
CHRETIEN DE TROYES: No Mordred. But we have a Morgana and no telling about her children.
CULHWICH AND OLWEN: Nothing of Mordred, Morgause or Morgana.
LANCELOT-GRAIL: I've read a modernization and Morgause was Mordred's mother.
ALLITERATIVE MORTE ARTHURE: Reading it : D I'll let you know.
MORTE d'ARTHUR: Mordred is the son of Morgause and Arthur

And now the modern books. In this color  the books with Morgana as the mother; in red the book with Morgause as Mordred's mother and dark blue for everything else.
Also, I would love to write something similar about Bedivere and the idea of Bedivere-as-the-original-Lancelot so if you have some informations or titles of books with Bedivere as the main character, please, write to me.

Sorry, it seems I have always doubts and questions!
This time it's a strange questions. I'm looking for books and novels that have both the characters of Mordred and Galahad, possibly with some kind of relationship (be it hatred, friendship, indifference etc.).
I only know The book of Mordred by Peter Hanratty (where Galahad and Mordred are best friends) and Queen of Camelot (where Galahad hates Mordred and wants to kill him). Do you know other novels?

And yes,I'm still looking for arthurian recs. These are the author I read (or know about and want to read): White, Cornwell, Gerald Morris, Jack Whyte, Zimmer Bradley, Bradshaw, Wein, Phyllis Ann Karr, Godwin, David Peter, Joan Wolf, Stewart, Baldry Cherith, C. Fisher, Sutcliff, Nancy McKenzie, Peter Hanratty, Steinbeck, Twain, Tennyson, Douglas Clegg, Sarah Zettel, Thomas Berger, Catherine Christian, Lowder, Cochran Molly, McDowell.
Do you know other good arthurian author/book?
And I heard about the novel "The Pendragon" (Christian Catherine) and "Arthur Rex" (Berger Thomas)... I was wondering how are these books because I read wonderful reviews on amazon.
The last question: How is the character of Mordred in the Squire's series of Gerald Morris?

EDIT August 2011: New version

Who is Mordred's mother? This is a list of ancient books I read and the parentage of Mordred.

HISTORIA BRITONUM: No Mordred.
ANNALE CAMBRIAE: There is Mordred/Medraut but there is nothing about his parents.
I'm not sure about his father.

Exiled from Camelot
Corbenic

The mists of Avalon
Down the long wind
Mordred, bastard son
Warlord Chroncles by Cornwell (Mordred is Uther's son but he dies at the beginning. He has a son named Mordred. So there are two Mordred)
Knight Life (?? maybe)
Queen of Camelot
The book of Mordred (Hanratty)
Idylls of the Queen
The round table by Howard Pyle (I'm not sure)
Mordred's Curse
Mordred's Gift

Firelord (for the information thanks to
[livejournal.com profile] scarfman)
I amMordred (Springer Nancy)
Steinbeck's version
The wicked day and the Merlin trilogy by Mary Stewart

Sword at sunset (Mordred is the son of Arthur and Ygraine, but Ygrain is the daughter of another Ygraine, Arthur's mother.)
The winter prince
The once and future king

Camlud Chronicles di Jack Whyte (Mordred is the son of Arthur and Uther's daughter, but I can't remember her name)
Dark ages of Britain (?)

And the moies...
Camelot (1967) + Camelot musical- Broadway
Doctor Who's episodes
A connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's court ('89)

Excalibur
Merlin- the return

Mists of Avalon

Merlin (BBC) - telefilm (we know nothing of his parents)
Merlin and the book of Beasts (we know nothing of his mother)
The knights of the round table (1953) (Mordred is Morgana's husband)

22 recent/modern books with 14 Morgause (with one 'maybe'), 3 Other and 5 Morgana (with 2 'maybe').
And 10 film/telefilm with 3 Other, 1 Morgause and 6 Morgana.

And now we may see when those books were written.
The mists of avalon (1979)
Firelord (still not sure about Mordred's mother) (1980)
Knight Life (still not sure about Mordred's mother) (1987)
Dark ages of Britain (1988)
Mordred, bastard son (2006)

And the movies:
Excalibur (1981)
Connecticut Yankee (1989)
Doctor Who (1989)
Merlin (1998)
Merlin the return (2000)
Mists of Avalon (2001)

Every book and movie is after the publication of The Mists of Avalon.
Please, help me! Are there any other books/movies with Morgana as Mordred's mother before the 1979?

I was bored and I decided to create a master post of the series. Random yay.
This is a story about Arthurian Legends (sort of).

Warnings: slash (m/m relationship), reincarnation, my writing (yes, it's a warning ;_;), mention of serious illness, cancer, suicide, deathfic, mention of femslash (f/f relationship).

Beta readers: LADYKNIGHTANKA & OSMANDIAS (till the second chapter of the third story). Thank you!

Pairing: Galahad/Mordred (Gale/Moray in the 21st century)

Characters: Mordred (Moray), Galahad (Gale), Bors, Percival (Percy), Lancelot, Guinevere, Arthur, Agravaine

Plot: Galahad arrives at court and Mordred decides to destroy him and all his 'santity' but as in the best (or worst) romance stories there is something new between them. Unfortunately Galahad has to leave Camelot to seek the Grail and he dies on his quest. But the Grail is not the holy miracle everyone thinks, it's a creature, a parasite who feeds on people and stay with them, as a shadow, life after life.

I created a music video about Mordred.
I created the video with three different songs, each one for a different Mordred (of a different movie). Hope it gives you hell for Merlin and the book of Beasts (there's a mistake in the vid- I called this movie 'The book of Merlin'), Chop Suey for the musical Camelot and Hide and Seek for The Mists of Avalon.

After Arthur's facebook Knightbook homepage, now there is also Mordred's one!
Mordred: Knightbook. (It's a little slashy!)
I don't think I'll create more Knightbook, maybe only Guinevere's one.

As my obsession with interest in Sir Mordred knows no bounds, I've gone and made a community for him.

S'for all things related to Camelot's favorite bastard son.

Does anyone know what Mordred used to kill Arthur? Was it ever mentioned in any versions of the legends?
[identity profile] mermaid-dancer.livejournal.com
Has anyone read The Book of Mordred yet by Vivian Vande Velde? I'm most of the way through and although I didn't find it that interesting a read I was glad to find something that was centered on Mordred. If you've read it, how did you like it? Anything better out there about dear old Mordred?

I have been lurking for a while now and I thought I would join and say Hi.
“Hi”
I have been reading Arthurian ledged for as long as I can remember. I do remember one set of books I found in the children's section of our public library. There were four volumes, oversized and each a different color. Inside were beautiful prints of knights and fair ladies. The library did not have the final volume but I loved those books to death.
When I was young it was the magic which most delighted me but as I grew I developed more of an interest in the history and in the psychological aspects of the characters. Somewhere along the line I developed a deep fascination with the character of Mordred.
I did see the movie and I enjoyed it, although I am not sure why they called it an Arthurian tale. Anyway, I am always looking for a good book, some of my favorites are Mists of Avalon, Mary Stewart’s Merlin Trilogy and The Wicked Day, and The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell.

Always,

OOh, another, somewhat unrelated post.

A question to all:

In your opinion, who has the most blame for the fall of Camelot?

Arthur? Lancelot? Guinevere? Morgana? Mordred? What are your thoughts?

Personally, I'm not sure who I'd blame. Of the trio, Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere, I'd have to blame Guin. Simply, because she didn't have much to lose (arguably... in a nutshell...) and had these other two men wound around her little pinky. Then again, I don't give her all the blame. Back to the trio, I believe the other two played big parts in the downfall. Mordred? Oh yes. Morgana, quite possibly. Just curious to see what all of your thoughts are and get this community moving again. :P

"Who was yonder old Roman who said, 'Call no man happy until he is dead'? My task, then, is to bring that greatest of all happinesses to my father, and why should I then rebel against that fate?"

Anoywn - it was on your quiz, where'd you get it from? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I'm new to this community, and, well, Arthurian legeds in general :\ I'm quite fascinated though, and I want to learn more.

So I was wondering, does anyone know of any art pieces of the infamous Mordred? I'm in dire need of some images of the forsaken one. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, and I hope to learn and have fun in this community.

Hey! I'm doing a project for my Arthurian Legends English class and I'm doing it on Sir Mordred. I thought it would be an interesting thing to add what people think of the guy. So tell me what you think about Sir Mordred/Gwydion. I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of him
