I'm here again to seek your help and I really hope I'm not too off topic.
Ok.  There's something inside me that really NEEDS to know who is the actor that plays the traitor in the movie King Arthur (not my favourite movie but I'm just strangely attracted to that traitor, I have a thing for troublesome characters).
Do you remember that among the Saxons there was a young man with dark hair (and he was handsome!)? He was a britain who betrayed his people and told informations to the Saxons. At the end of the movie, just before the battle begins, the Saxon king tells him to go up a tree and the Traitor goes there. But then Tristan shot a random arrow and hits him. (No, really, RANDOM).
I can't even find a picture about him ;_; and I can't find the actor who played him because I'm quite sure he never said the name of his character in the movie. Help me ;_;

Hey, my name is Allegra and I'm new here! I've always loved myths and legends, and the Arthurian Legends are some of my favorites. I also love Greek mythology. I would also like to add that I was very displeased with the King Arthur movie released last Summer, starring Clive Owen and Keira Knightly. It was, in my opinion, way too different from the legend. Guenevere being an indian like person with more blue paint on than actual clothes was enough to drive me insane. But hey, that's just me. Maybe I'm too closed minded and traditional...anyways, just thought I'd state my opinions on that rendition of the story of King Arthur.

Just so you know a little more about me, I'm a Christian and I love to read, write, draw and hang out with my friends. Some of my favorite things are: books (especially Classic literature), art, strawberry shortcake, Shakespeare, poetry, peanut butter (lol), quotes, horses (although I love all animals), wildlife, mythology, and movies. I'm also a bit of a tomboy and I love sports. Oh yeah, and did I mention I'm very talkative? Well, I hope to be seeing you guys around!

But sometimes being a classicist has its advantages--an article on the "historical" King Arthur and the movie.

Thoughts?

I'm still annoyed at their legendary names (in a supposedly historical film) and the consequential butchery of individual characters (mostly because now everyone will think there was a real Lancelot and a real Bors-with-eleven-children, etc). ;-)

[Crossposted to my own LJ because I'm a stupid git who posted it to the wrong LJ this morning. :-P]

My brother saw the new King Arthur movie. He came home and said, "One day I'm going to make a movie about the true King Arthur." I was like, "OK you go do that." He goes, "Yeah, the true King Arthur was a Saxon leader in Britain." I gave him a look of incredulity and yelled, "A SAXON LEADER!!!" I then realized I really don't know much about the historical Arthur or anything. For all I know my little brother could be right, though it seems highly unlikely to me. I know that most of the legends are not true, though I'd love to believe them.

So what I'm trying to ask is could someone enlighten me on the theroy(ies) about the historical King Arthur or lead me in the direction of books about him? Thank you in advance to all that do.

I was pleasantly surprised when I read on Amazon that Hans Zimmer scored the soundtrack for the movie, for he is my favorite composer and I loved his score for "The Gladiator" (enjoyed the movie too - that's what's in my mind a good historical epic movie should be). There were many positive reviews posted on the King Arthur soundtrack just a day after its release, and now I am interested in getting it though I have not seen [and probably will not see] the movie. Those who has seen the movie: does the music stand on its own? Usually a good soundtrack has a listening value by itself aside from being played during the movie, and "The Gladiator" in my opinion is exactly that. I for some reason enjoys collecting the OSTs for epic movies and originally had the soundtrack for "Troy" in mind after hearing the trailer music, but I was disappointed that they decided to replace it with a 3-week job. In this summer of large-scale historical movies, I hope to add another historical epic score into my collection. What says everyone? :)

So out of boredom I came up with this comic strip as a parody to the King Arthur movie. I'm really not a Paint pro so they're just stick figures, hehe. Anyway, here are the first two installments.

This is the most hilarious thing I've seen in the LONGEST time! I wheezelaughed all night and cried tears of joy, and afterwards I felt like I had abs of steel. Beware if you haven't seen King Arthur yet, as this has spoilers.

It's "King Arthur in 15 Minutes" by [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda and you should click here to read it now!

As a movie, it was great. I loved it! However, as an Arthurian Legend... well, let's just say I've seen better. Much better. I told my friend to punch me hard if I started to scream at the screen. Plus, I told the entire group of people w/me that they should not think that they know anything about the Arthurian Legends just because they saw this movie, nor should they believe it was the true story. I think the menacing tone in my voice convinced them of that.

I still cried though. I remembered to bring Kleenex due to reading all of your reviews of the movie. My other friend also needed it and all the guys who were with us thought we were crazy. Oh well.

I haven't seen THE movie yet as it has not been released here in Sydney. I'll probably go see it on the 15th though...

On a related note, I have 5 postcards (which doubles as a postcard size sticker) of the movie. The picture is of Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot as it appears in the poster.

Any takers? Just leave your address here or e-mail me directly.

Ta!

well since im not totally an authority on all the versions of the legends, i shall give an unbiased opinion.

i liked it. i wont see it again, but i thought it was way better than i thought it would be. not perfect, and the characters werent exactly what i wanted/hoped for/should have been. but i did enjoy it.

So I went to see the King Arthur movie. For those of you who didn't see it I won't give away any endings. It did have a more historical feel to it (more Dark Age turmoil than glitzy Hollywood medieval knights in shining armor) Guinevere's portrayal was excellent, she was a strong Celtic warrior woman yet still ladylike and graceful and not a whiny prissy damsel in distress adulteress. The did put in the concept of the matter of Britain ie Arthur weds Guinvevere to be one with the land. I highly recommend it to Arthurian fans.

I am going to see "King Arthur" tomorrow. It looks as though they will not portray Merlin the way most do. I was wondering if anyone has seen this movie and what they think of the Merlin character.
