Has anyone read The Book of Mordred yet by Vivian Vande Velde? I'm most of the way through and although I didn't find it that interesting a read I was glad to find something that was centered on Mordred. If you've read it, how did you like it? Anything better out there about dear old Mordred?

OF all the books about Mordred, I prefered "I am Mordred" I forget who wrote it, though.

That and "I Am Morgan le Fay" were both by Nancy Springer.

The Winter Prince, by Elizabeth E. Wein, is one of the best books I have ever read. But it's going out of print for the second time, and probably won't go back. He's in the sequels as well, to differing extents, but I'm less enthusiastic about them.

There's also Mary Stewart's The Wicked Day. I don't remember it well, but I do adore her Merlin trilogy, so I should probably reread TWD.

Ah, I sympathize with you ;) She really made a witch out of Gwen, in my opinion. I'd read "Queen of Camelot" to restore the right flavor.

But be warned that reading Mallory's Le Mort D'Arthur is always the best place to get any info at all. :) You can find it ready to download (for free as an e book you can read offline) at: http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/m/malory/thomas/m25m/index.html. It's a bit hard to follow if you aren't used to reading archaic stuffs, but let's face it, that's the first place where the arthurian legends were recorded (though I regret it has very little concerning Sir Marrok the Wolf-one pitiful sentence!)

Ian McDowell's "Mordred's Curse" and "Merlin's Gift." Darkly twisted, profane, very funny, and very sad at times. My favorite characterization of Mordred.
