i know ive posted about Jack Whyte's Camulod Chronicles before, (which are amazing realistic interpretations of how the legends could have actually been true), but there is a nwe installment out, the 6th book is called The Lance Thrower.

of course its about lancelot. its about his home life in gaul where he is called Clothar (he gets the name lancelet from merlin who nicknames he hastas-the latin word for lance), and his schooling and first war, and how he came to arthur's court. it ends with him meeting arthur and suggests that a 7th book will be written to tell the story of lancelot, arthur and guinevere.

i highly reccommend it :)

I was going to suggest that we start a list of modern Arthurian literature, but then by doing a little bit of research, I came across this, so I thought I'd share -

http://www.triviumpublishing.com/articles/arthurian.html

Perhaps we could create reviews or brief synopsis, not really summaries, but general characteristics such as whether it's more of a historical fiction, or fantasy, or more of a feminist telling, etc as guides for people who might be looking for new books to read?

And related, but an aside - Any fans of Jack Whyte's series?

Whoa! I've been looking for an Arthurian legend community forever... This is awesome. I know it's small at the moment... er, I can try to spread the word about it if you'd like.

Anyways... just felt like saying hi and expressing my ecstaticness upon finding that this community exists.

Since I'm here, I guess I'll share some of my favorite books about King Arthur... just cuz I'm in school and I'm bored. :-P

The Once and Future King - T.H. White
Le Morte D'Arthur - Sir Thomas Mallory
The Mists of Avalon - Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Warlord Chronicles - a trilogy by Bernard Cornwell
The Camulod Chronicles - a series by Jack Whyte (I've only read the first four or so)

Erm, yeah... I'm sure you've heard of the first few. Has anyone else read the series, or know of any other good series?

Bleh... I'm sure I have some other favorites too. I just can't think of them at the moment.

Alright, I'll shut up now.

Later.
