Date: 2007-09-14 03:16 pm (UTC)Although I think collapsed is the wrong word as I did indicate there being other daughters (which is actually the expanded sister list not the collapsed one)... it's just a matter of which sister is the other of Mordred which is at issue.

Date: 2007-09-15 03:42 pm (UTC)Which is exactly my objection (though it is a mild one). Very generally, when Mordred's mother is called "Morgan", it is because the family tree has been truncated (and mentioning other sisters while leaving them undefined is just covert truncation).
On the other hand... There are good dramatic reasons for Mordred's mother to be a strong character, and a powerful sorceress, in her own right, though it DOES shift the flavor of the story quite a bit.

Date: 2007-09-17 04:15 pm (UTC)I actually find more often Morgause becomes the mother when you are truncating the family tree... because she HAS to exist as the mother of 5 sons already, whereas Morgan's role can be added to hers.
