Does anyone else have a curiosity with this film. It seems to have taken over parts of my head and life. does anyone else find this film going around in their heads constantly?
Is this the Camelot movie based on the musical of the same name? Because I wasn't crazy about the musical (I've only listened to the cast recording) but I could see myself liking it better, perhaps, with visuals and in-between-bits, if they were good enough. (And as far as films/plays/books taking over parts of one's head and life, I know precisely what you mean...)
You need to see the whole film and then listen to the recording. The opening scenes of Camelot in pink lights and the forest in snow and the courtiers around the maypole all brings the atmosphere alive and it is amazing - get yourself a copy of the film - its not really true to the stories but it is very inspiring. I saw it when I was about four or five and I am still living it today - 35 years later.
I have the original cast recording with Julie Andrews as Guenevere. It's one of my favorite CDs. I've seen this movie at least five or six times and sob at least every time I watch it. I love it, though I really wish there were one with Julie Andrews instead of Vanessa Redgrave.
I can't quite see julie andrew's playing the part but thatt's probable due to the fact that I watch the film at least twice a year for the last 10 years. Just getting the opening scene and my eyes are a mass of tears, I don't think I have actually been able to watch the end for some time now - too much water in the way by the time Lancelot declares his love.....
