Hey, everyone! (Apologies if you're getting this numerous times in your friends list! :S)

I'm making my own deck of Tarot Cards, and my theme is "Mythology of the World".
I've got a few good sources on mythology, but I know it would take me aeons to look through and find specific stories for each individual card. I've listed a few events/people that I can already match up with some cards but, for the most part, my mind is drawing blanks.

So, I'm asking for a simple favor... Please do a little survey -- I think that may help me get some information quicker.
PS: Since this is a community dedicated to Arthurian legends, I'm thinking these should only be answered with things pertaining to Arthurian Legends/Celtic Mythology. :>

1) Who is/are your favorite god/desses, or characters from mythology/Arthurian Legends? Why? What traits about them do you like?
2) What are some myths that you particularly enjoy? (small paragraphs are nice, nothing too long but nothing too brief).
3) Which god/dess, or people do you identify with most? Why?

That'll be all. Thank you much, and I hope my request isn't too brain-killing! ^_^

Hola! This is interesting to me, since I've been reading cards for over a decade and I'm a huge Arthurian nerd. But I have to ask: how will your deck differ from the Haindl deck? That's the deck i'm using right now, and i love it. to answer your questions:
1.) there really aren't any gods/goddesses in Arthurian legend. in Celtic mythology there is a Morgan, but there's a lot of debate as to whether she and Morgan Le Fey are the same person--personally, I don't think so. Merlin (who is frequently the inspiration of the magician card) is a wonderful character, and I'm extremely fond of the woman who was the key to his undoing, Nimue, or the Lady of the Lake. She raised Lancelot and imprisoned Merlin in a tree, to name a few things.
2.) Arthurian legend is not really a myth, but a legend--it's a legend because it may, in fact, be true, where as stuff like Zeus and Apollo are myths because they're stories about Gods we don't have any evidence of. Myth wise, I'm partial to Odin, who is a super character for the tarot, since the Runes fell from his fingertips when he willingly hung himself to gain knowledge. this makes him a swell hanged man representation.
3.) i identify most with Nimue, though i can't say why in a few sentences. other than nimue, i also identify with Spider Woman from Native American mythology, Isis and Sekhmet from Egyptian mythology, Freya...I could go on for awhile.
I imagine you've gotten a lot of response from this. If you'd like something more detailed in the way of response, just email me. I'd love to see how your deck is coming if you have a site up for it!

that site has images of some of the cards from the Haindl deck. it's a lovely deck--i highly recommend checking it out. it uses native american myths, german and egyptian myths, and Arthurian images. There's also a deck called Legend, which is based entirely around Arthurian legend. that deck kinda sucks, though.
