Read Chretien de Troyes; what next?

So I see this community hasn't been active for some time, which is a shame (there aren't many Arthurian communities on DW).

So, I am a fan of the 1950s Sir Lancelot series *points to icon*. I've decided to read some of the old texts, and started with Chretien de Troyes' Four Romances (and enjoyed them).

With this info, what would be the next text to read? I was going with de Troyes' Perceval, but changed to The High History of the Grail. Is this fine? Just looking for different opinions and stuff.

(On a different note: is fanart allowed to be posted here? If not, is there another Arthurian community to share some art?)

My name is Michael Sacal. I'm the writer and creator of KNIGHTS LEGACY: AWAKENING OF THE PEN DDRAIG, a 144-page graphic novel that tells the story of the modern day heirs to the legacy of the PENDRAGON. "Awakening..." focuses on two modern heirs of the PENDRAGON, LAURENCE GREY and ETHAN McBride.

Laurence is a soulless man whose lack of self makes him indifferent to people’s suffering and drives him to oppress the people of the EUROPEAN UNION. In his search to find a glassmith able to restore Caliburn’s broken glass blade so he can use it to open Arthur’s burial chamber, he inadvertently awakens his innocent true self. Driven by the need to earn forgiveness for his sins, Laurence embarks on a journey that takes him from the world of magic across the world of man in search of absolution, but what he finds instead is the key to unlock his buried past.

Ethan is a selfish man whose determination in discovering where he comes from blinds him to the needs of others and compels him to only take action expecting a reward for his efforts. The only trace he has to his origins is a locket emblazoned with the coat of arms of the HOUSE OF THE PENDRAGON. After his locket is stolen, he embarks on a quest that takes him from the world of man across the world of magic to get it back, but what he finds instead is the devastating truth to the question that has plagued him his entire life.

The emergence of the isle of AVALON – the fabled resting place of king ARTHUR PENDRAGON – portents their heroic awakening. Should either one fail to embrace their birthright, it would bring about the birth of a DRUID MECCA built atop the ruins of the European Union – the modern KINGDOMS OF CAMELOT.

“Arthur
is no fit king,” they said. And yet, here he is. Surrounded by those
who already swore to be loyal to him with no hesitations. But they
aren’t many. Most of the people - noblemen and ordinary people alike -
still doubts his right for the throne. He needs to prove himself, he has
to earn their trust. People are coming to see the new king from every
corner of the country. Some of them to offer an alliance; others to see
their potential enemy. Many claimed the throne before him, yet no one
has ever been able to put the sword out of the stone but Arthur. He’s
been raised without knowing his origin and he’s been raised well. Now
he’s ready to rule. He will be a good king. I, Merlin, am sure of it.

In March 2012, following who knows what manner of tug of war (because it is always, always a game), our gods and goddesses, our nymphs and our angels, our mortals and, yes, even our mythical animals were returned to New York City.

They do say it's the city that never sleeps. It is only natural that the city's puppet-master never sleeps, either.

You can try to break the cycle but whether you're Odin All-Father or Zeus Thunderer, whether you're a Queen of Hell or a Queen of Sparta, you will fail. Settle in, instead, and learn to roll with the punches.

I created an arthurian calendar for the 2012. It is in two version (one is clear and the other one has an "ancient" effect). In the last page of the calendar there are also all the titles of the pics/paintings I used.
The calendar if composed by: an arthurian poem, an arthurian image, the days of the month.

I was wondering if anyone knew about some retelling/media about the Mabinogion (I'm actually referring to the Four Branches of the Mabinogi). I am looking for movies (even if only some characters of the Mabinogion appear), documentaries, novels, comics etc.
I already know the albums/songs by Heather Dale and Elin Fflur. I also read Mabinogion (Evangeline Walton) and The Chronicles of Prydain (Lloyd Alexander).

stuff that is treated strangely and with some mistakes in the future
seasons. I'll also rewatch the future season to see how the writers
treated what they had with the first season.

Warner Bros. has purchased the spec screenplay Arthur and Lancelot from filmmaker David Dobkin.
The script ignited a bidding war between Warner Bros., Fox, and
Universal, which Warner Bros. won with a hefty $2 million bid. The
project is described as a modern reimagining of the King Arthur and Sir Lancelot legendary tales.

David Dobkin will direct from his own screenplay and produce alongside Lionel Wigram. Jeff Kleeman will executive produce Arthur and Lancelot.
The project is budgeted at $90 million, although it isn’t known when production might start on Arthur and Lancelot.

Here’s what Dobkin (whose previous credits include the raunchy comedies Wedding Crashers and the upcoming The Change-Up) said he’s done with the Arthurian legend for Arthur & Lancelot:

“I pulled the legend apart. I only kept a few
things. I kept certain characters, I recreated the entire launch of the
legend and why it starts the way that it starts, I don’t want to give
away too much but it’s always had a flaw. I pulled the flaws out, I reinvented the characters as grounded characters. I took a much more realistic and
grounded approach towards everybody, you know why would this character
be this way and why would this character be that way? You know
Arthur’s superpower is compassion and vision. I will tell you this, the
whole thing is wrapped around the birth of democracy as a concept and it’s positing Arthur as the first man to say all men are created equal.”

Rewriting this post because I've read more books!

Who is Mordred's mother? This is a list of ancient books I read and the parentage of Mordred.

HISTORIA BRITONUM: No Mordred.
ANNALE CAMBRIAE: There is Mordred/Medraut but there is nothing about his parents.
HISTORIA REGUM BRITANNIAE: Mordred is the son of Anna and Lot. Anna is Arthur's sister.
CHRETIEN DE TROYES: No Mordred. But we have a Morgana and no telling about her children.
CULHWICH AND OLWEN: Nothing of Mordred, Morgause or Morgana.
LANCELOT-GRAIL: I've read a modernization and Morgause was Mordred's mother.
ALLITERATIVE MORTE ARTHURE: Reading it : D I'll let you know.
MORTE d'ARTHUR: Mordred is the son of Morgause and Arthur

And now the modern books. In this color the books with Morgana as the mother; in red the book with Morgause as Mordred's mother and dark blue for everything else.
