The book you might be thinking of is Culture Jam: The Uncooling of America by Kalle Lasn. Is that the one? I haven't read it yet, but it's on the list. I'm having a bit of an allergic reaction to yet more stuff about American culture right now, but I'll pick it up one day.:)
